====== Connecting the Passive House Community ======

Passive House Associations play a key role in connecting Passive House stakeholders worldwide and advancing the Passive House concept on all levels - regionally, nationally and internationally.\\

The [[http://passivehouse-international.org/|International Passive House Association - iPHA]] is a global network of Passive House stakeholders including architects, planners, scientists, suppliers, manufacturers, contractors and property developers. Formed by the Passive House Institute, Germany, it works to promote the Passive House Standard and foster a greater public understanding of its significance. Encouraging the exchange of Passive House knowledge, iPHA communicates with the media, the general public and the entire range of construction professionals.

However, such an international effort cannot replace local networks to bring together planners, scientists, suppliers, manufacturers, contractors and property developers on a national and regional level. After all, it takes regional expertise to gather and spread information relating to specific political and climatic conditions as well as building standards and traditions. 

**Some important points to consider and general steps to take are as follows:**

  * Get informed about the Passive House Standard, ie: by reading literature, through Passipedia, by talking to experts and by becoming a [[http://www.passivehouse-international.org/index.php?page_id=221&level1_id=194|Certified Passive House Designer]]

  * Familiarise yourself with and learn to use the [[planning:calculating_energy_efficiency:phpp_-_the_passive_house_planning_package|PHPP]]

  * Look into your regional conditions in terms of climate and building tradition

  * Determine optimal parameters for Passive Houses in your region/climate

  * Build Passive Houses

  * Promote the Passive House Standard in your area

  * Get into closer contact with the international Passive House community, ie: by benefiting from [[http://www.passivehouse-international.org|iPHA membership]], through PHPP distribution, by becoming a [[http://www.passivehouse-international.org/index.php?page_id=221&level1_id=194#Trainer|Certified Passive House Designer course provider]] and/or a Passive House Institute authorised building certifier
