It helps to channel investment into the sectors of the economy that the EU considers most urgently needed for the transition, in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal. The taxonomy is a classification system that sets out criteria for economic activities that are consistent with a net-zero profile by 2050 and the broader environmental objectives in addition to climate action.
