The value for heat pump electricity documented here was used for the calculations in AK58. This is considerably cheaper than in the current situation and also cheaper than electricity generated using natural gas in combined heat and power plants. However, under no circumstances is there zero emission of greenhouse gases for heat pumps powered by electricity within the period under consideration. The value for heat pump electricity documented here was used for the calculations in AK58.  +//Note added in October 2025: With the actual development in Germany the installation especially of wind generators but also of solar PV falls short of the original governmental targets((it's, as often, a political infighting.)). Unfortunately, the installation of heat pumps also falls short of the intended substitution plan. As a result, the figure '198  gCO2eq' is on the optimistic (i.e. low) side of the foreseeable development: The old gas-fired boilers will be in use for a longer time AND heat-pump-electricity will have higher CO2-emissons attributed, which will, however, still be lower than those from fossil fuel-fired boilers. As a consequence the advantages of improved energy efficincy of the buildings themselves will be even higher than presented in the final results of AK58/AK60.
